Accounting workflows that can make compliance easier to manage

Put clean, connected financial data to work in Xero.

Xero brings everyday accounting workflows together. A well-maintained organisation gives your team a stronger base for UAE e-Invoicing, month-end close and decision-making.

What teams use Xero for

One accounting file, connected workflows.

Features and limits vary by subscription, settings, bank and connected apps. We confirm availability for each client’s organisation before designing a workflow.

Sales

Quotes and customer invoices

Create and send quotes and invoices, see payment status, and use automated reminders to follow up. Invoice limits apply on Starter; plan features and online payment options can change.

Purchases

Bills and supplier records

Capture bills, maintain supplier details and schedule the accounts payable review. Confirm automation and bill-entry limits against the selected plan.

Cash

Bank feeds and reconciliation

Where supported by the bank, feed transactions into Xero, match them to invoices and bills, and use bank rules for recurring items. Manual statement imports remain an option where a feed is unavailable.

UAE tax

VAT accounting

Apply reviewed tax rates to transactions, monitor VAT-coded activity and prepare VAT reporting. Xero describes VAT201 preparation for submission through EmaraTax; see the VAT and reporting guide.

International

Multi-currency accounting

For eligible plans, record transactions in foreign currencies and review exchange movements. Check the plan and confirm how your team will review rates and realised gains or losses.

Control

Reports and cash visibility

Use reports and dashboards to review balances, receivables, payables and cash flow. Reconcile regularly and agree who reviews exceptions before relying on the reports.

A practical Xero workflow

From a customer record to a reviewed month end.

Use this fictional AED example to see how routine Xero accounting work can support an e-Invoicing project. It is a workflow illustration, not an automated tax decision.

Set up the customer

Check the legal name, address, country and required participant identifiers for the correct UAE entity. Agree who approves new contact records and changes.

Build the invoice

Use a consistent service item, description, quantity, price and reviewed tax treatment. Example: AED 10,000 plus assumed 5% VAT gives AED 10,500 total.

Send as structured data

For the Xero UAE route, connect the organisation in Invoici and appoint the provider through EmaraTax. Confirm the structured document and response status with the provider.

Reconcile and review

When payment arrives, review the bank match against the correct open invoice. Then check exceptions and reconcile records before month-end reporting.

Video and simulation: See the invoice, e-Invoice route, payment match and review steps in our interactive Xero workflow demo ↗. The sample never connects to Xero or transmits data.
Readiness connection

How everyday Xero work supports e-Invoicing preparation

Structured exchange depends on accurate source information. These practical controls connect finance operations to the e-Invoicing workstream.

Xero workflowPreparation actionWhy it matters
ContactsReview legal names, addresses, country and participant identifiers for active customers and suppliers.Reduces missing or inconsistent party information before structured invoice exchange.
Products and servicesStandardise descriptions, units, sales accounts and applicable tax treatment.Improves consistency between invoice lines and accounting entries.
Tax ratesReview VAT rates and tax settings with the finance or tax adviser; test representative transactions.Prevents a system mapping from being mistaken for a legal tax decision.
Invoices and credit notesAgree approval, correction, cancellation and credit note procedures; test each route.Teams need a documented response to rejected, corrected or disputed documents.
Bank reconciliationClear unmatched items and establish a regular reconciliation owner.Reliable books help finance teams monitor invoice settlement and close periods.
e-Invoicing is a structured exchange process. A PDF emailed from Xero is not, by itself, a UAE e-Invoice. Xero’s current UAE route uses its Invoici platform and an Accredited Service Provider connection. See Xero UAE e-Invoicing setup.
Plan selection

Choose a plan around the work

Compare current UAE plan details with your transaction volume and control needs. Check invoice and bill limits, bank reconciliation, reporting, multi-currency, expenses and optional apps before committing. Xero’s UAE plan prices are scheduled to change from 1 November 2026. We confirm the current subscription price and plan eligibility before onboarding; the Xero subscription is quoted separately from our advisory fees.

Xero plan fit · UAE

Match the plan to how your team works.

These examples highlight practical differences for an e-Invoicing project. Xero also lists Lite on its UAE plans page, while its e-Invoicing page currently names Starter, Standard and Premium. Check Lite eligibility directly with Xero before selecting it for a UAE mandate workflow, and confirm exact features, limits and current fees before choosing any subscription.

PlanUseful forWorkflow considerations
StarterA small consultancy with a modest number of monthly sales invoices and supplier bills.Xero lists a limit of 20 invoices and 5 bills; the invoice limit applies to sending and approving, and transactions from connected apps may count. Confirm volume before using it for a busy e-Invoicing workflow.
StandardA growing UAE trading or service business with regular supplier bills and a finance team.Includes automated bill entry, bulk reconciliation and a 60-day cash-flow forecast, in addition to Starter features.
PremiumA business that needs foreign-currency accounting, such as a UAE importer invoicing or paying in other currencies.Adds multi-currency, KPI analysis and a 180-day cash-flow forecast to Standard features.
UAE feature note: Xero states UAE e-Invoicing is available on Starter, Standard and Premium with no additional Xero e-Invoicing charge. This does not set the ASP’s commercial fees or guarantee access for every organisation. The UAE VAT solution is also plan- and account-dependent.
